THE ANTWERP STORY

In 2015 archeologists discovered a 423 meter deep shaft under The Steen castle in Antwerp, Belgium. The occult ‘Skagt’ is mentioned in late medieval chronicles. A hollow pit to the underworld, counterbalancing the force of the gothic cathedral spire.

Exclusively for Zomer Van Antwerpen festival, groups of visitors are allowed to descend into the deep. Things go seriously wrong once the underworld is reached. A game between fiction and reality unfolds…

3721 people visited the Skagt in august 2015
